Sustainability

The Retail Council of Canada is serious about environmental sustainability! Our goal is to ensure that all of our events are as green and eco-friendly as possible. Here are some things we are doing at the 2012 STORE - Canada's Retail Conference to help us reach this objective:

Speaker Sessions & Delegate Materials

Rather than providing hard copies of handouts and/or materials during presentations, soft copies of authorized presentations will be made available online in electronic format for all delegates after the event.

In addition, this year we will once again be offering an online “Eco-bag”, to all attendees in place of a traditional delegate bag.

We will be providing conference delegates with reusable badge holders and inserts will be made with 100% recyclable paper.

Refreshments

Jugs and glasses will be used for serving water while cream and milk will be served in pitchers.  Silver spoons for stirring tea and coffee will be provided in place of disposable stir sticks.

Venue

When working with venues, we look for those who are environmentally conscious and employ sustainable guidelines in their provision of products and services.

Since its expansion in January 2008, the Toronto Congress Centre (TCC) has become a leader in green trade show facilities. Sustainable features of this venue include energy efficient lighting, improved air quality, on-site recycling, and much more. The Congress Centre also partners with Turtle Island Recycling to sort and recycle all leftover materials on a regular basis including on-site recycling at the 2012 STORE Conference.
