Every June in conjunction with STORE — Canada's Retail Conference, the attention of the retail community across Canada turns to the Excellence in Retailing Awards (ERA).  The Awards show features the presentation of three special nominated awards to honour the industry's most respected leaders. This year's award recipients were:

• Steve Matyas, President, Staples Canada Inc. - Distinguished Canadian Retailer of the Year Award
• Gordon Reid, Chairman & CEO, Giant Tiger Stores Ltd. - Lifetime Achievement Award
• Paul Straus, President & CEO, Home Hardware Stores Ltd. - Canadian Retail Hall of Fame Inductee
  
• Pat Higgins, Associate Dealer, Canadian Tire - Uxbridge - Ambassador Award
